In order to enhance the understanding of outstanding foreign language majors from universities across the country about School of Foreign Studies of Harbin Engineering

University, promote communication among outstanding students, and provide an opportunity for outstanding undergraduate students in foreign language majors to showcase their professional abilities, comprehensive qualities, and research potential, the School of Foreign Studies successfully organized the "2023 National Outstanding College Students Summer Camp" from July 1st to 2nd.

This event attracted outstanding students from various parts of the country, including Sichuan, Shandong, Hebei, and Heilongjiang, who inquired and applied for

participation. In the end, nine campers were selected. Through a diverse range of summer camp activities, the campers had the opportunity to experience the "Harbin Military and Industrial" culture, immerse themselves in the academic atmosphere, express themselves, and gain personal growth.

The opening ceremony of the summer camp was held on the morning of July 1st in Building 41, and presided by Professor Mao Yansheng, the Vice Dean of the School of

Foreign Studies. Professor Zhu Dianyong, the Dean of the school, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, warmly welcoming the students participating in this

summer camp and providing a comprehensive introduction to the university, the school, and the academic programs.

The heads of the school's academic departments, Associate Professors Dong Xiaoming, Liu Zhitao, and Wang Qingzhong, introduced their respective disciplines. They also

acted as mentors and engaged in discussions with the students. In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, they sparked intellectual exchanges with the campers, encouraging

them to develop personal growth plans, study diligently, and progress together.

On the afternoon of July 1st, the School of Foreign Studies arranged a discussion between campus graduate representatives and summer campers. This provided campers with a more tangible and specific insight into campus life. Following this, the graduate counselors led the campers on a campus tour and a visit to the Harbin Military and Industrial

Exhibition Hall, offering a deeper understanding of the university's rich historical and cultural heritage and its remarkable achievements in reform and development.

The closing ceremony of the summer camp was held on the morning of July 2nd in Building 41, and presided by Professor Mao Yansheng, the Vice Dean of the School of

Foreign Studies. The School's Party Secretary, Wu Yue, presented certificates to outstanding campers and addressed the gathering. She expressed a warm welcome to the

talented students to join in School of Foreign Studies of Harbin Engineering University. She also expressed hope that through this event, both students and faculty could

establish connections, enhance their academic and research capabilities, and, in their future academic careers, strive to “research real problems, solve real problems” and

work diligently towards excellence.

This event marked the School of Foreign Studies' inaugural "National Outstanding College Students Summer Camp". On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the

university, the School of Foreign Studies aimed to use the summer camp as an opportunity to attract more outstanding foreign language students to listen to and engage with Harbin Engineering University, becoming an integral part of the university's community. This initiative aimed to strengthen unity and solidarity, contributing to the further

development of the School of Foreign Studies' academic disciplines.
