The 6th Convention of the Alliance for Talent Training and Discipline Construction of Area Studies in Universities (referred to as "Gaomen-g") was successfully held from September 20-22, 2024, at the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.

The conference was jointly organized by the Secretariat of Area Studies under the Ministry of Education, the 6th Convention of the Alliance fo-r Talent Training and Discipline Construction of Area Studies in Universities, the Area Studies Branch of the China Association of Higher Education (preparatory), the Area Studies Institute of Sun Yat-sen University, the Belt and Road Research Institute, the School of Foreign Studies at Harbin Engineering University, and several other institutions. The theme for this convention was "Area Studies and the Chinese Path to Modernization." Over 350 experts and scholars from nearly 100 universities and research institutions participated in the convention.

The Second Exhibition of Area Studies Research Achievements was also hosted during the convention, fostering greater exchange and collaboration among universities and research institutions. A new initiative, the "Outstanding Conference Paper Award for Young Scholars," was introduced to encourage and support the next generation of scholars in conducting innovative and impactful research, identifying and nurturing future talents in Area Studies.
