In line with the “Healthy Campus” initiative and to further enhance faculty members’ awareness of health and self-care capabilities, the Trade Union of the School of Foreign Studies organized a “Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Free Clinic Week” from May 6 to 9. Ms. Guo Yuqin, a senior TCM practitioner specializing in Preventive Treatment of Disease and certified health management consultant, was specially invited to offer on-site consultations in Room 318, Building 41, providing free TCM-based health care and wellness services to all faculty members.

The four-day clinic ran daily in two daily time slots: 9:00–11:30 a.m. and 2:00–4:30 p.m.. The clinic featured a range of services, including traditional pulse diagnosis, cervical and lumbar spine health assessments, chronic disease management guidance , and seasonal wellness consultations. These services targeted common health concerns among the faculty members, such as neck, shoulder, back, and waist issues, as well as chronic disease management, and lifestyle adjustment through diet and routine regulation.

By employing the traditional TCM diagnostic approach of “sì zhěn hé yī” (a combination of four diagnostic methods: inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry, and palpation), Ms. Guo carefully assessed the internal organ functions.Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, she provided tailored professional advice on the prevention and alleviation of common occupational diseases. And personalized and practical TCM treatement plans were also provided for chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes, taking into account individual differences.

This free clinic was more than just a health service tailored to faculty needs—it was also a practical embodiment of the School’s people-oriented philosophy and commitment to caring for the physical and mental well-being of its staff.

The warm and attentive diagnostic experence and the wisdom of preventive TCM practice, created a comforting atmosphere that was warmly welcomed by faculty members.

The School’s Trade Union will continue to expand the scope and diversity of health services, cultivating a more civilized, caring, and vibrant campus environment. As spring turns into early summer and life begins to flourish, may this free clinic bring not only the gift of good health, but also a sense of peace and renewed strength to all.
