On June 7, embracing the early signs of summer, the Trade Union of the School of Foreign Studies at Harbin Engineering University organized a faculty spring outing to the Songfeng Mountain Scenic Area and the Jin Shangjing Historical Museum in Acheng District. Themed "Hiking Together, Strengthening Bonds," the event provided faculty members with a refreshing opportunity to reconnect with nature and explore local history amid their busy academic routines. More than just a leisure trip, the outing reflected the spirit of unity, collaboration, and positive momentum, fostering stronger bonds among colleagues and energizing their shared commitment to future growth.
Scaling Songfeng Mountain and Embracing the Beauty of Longjiang
     Recognized as one of the eight famous mountains in Northeast China, Songfeng Mountain is famed for its steep cliffs, towering ancient pines.Often hailed as the “Foremost Taoist Mountain in the Northeast,” it holds both cultural and natural significance.

     At sunrise, faculty members began their hiking journey with great enthusiasm. Upon their arrival at the scenic area, they walked in groups along the winding ancient path, weaving through misty peaks and forested trails. Climbing the newly renovated mountain steps, they passed through groves of towering red pines, with dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy and mountain breezes carrying the invigorating scent of pine resin.
Along the way, the uniquely shaped rock formations and ancient trees drew admiration. Notable landmarks such as Chimney Peak, Lion Roar Peak, and Chessboard Peak captivated the group, prompting many to pause ,take photos, and appreciate the beauty of nature. When faced with steeper sections of the trail, colleagues helped and encouraged one another, exemplifying a strong spirit of teamwork and solidarity.
Upon reaching the summit at 627 meters above sea level, they were rewarded with sweeping views of lush mountains and swiriling mist. There, amidst breathtaking scenery, faculty members exchanged thoughts on education and shared laughter that echoed through the valleys. The hike not only offered a chance to experience the unique charm of what is often called “Longjiang’s most beautiful mountain,” but also instilled a sense of perseverance, achievement, and renewal.
Discovering Jinyuan Heritage at the Jin Shangjing Historical Museum
In the afternoon, the group visited the Jin Shangjing Historial Museum, embarking on a cultural journey through time. As the only museum in China dedicated to comprehensively showcasing the history of the Jin Dynasty and Jin-Yuan culture, its rich collection and immersive displays offered deep insights into the rise and glory of the Jin Dynasty. Faculty members expressed that the visit greatly broadened their perspectives and deepened their appreciation for China’s rich cultural heritage. The experience inspired a renewed sense of pride in traditional Chinese civilization.
As the sun set, the return trip was filled with laughter and lively conversation. Still immersed in the joy of the day, faculty members exchanged hiking stories and shared reflections on the museum visit, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
  Many expressed their commitment to approaching their teaching and academic responsibilities with renewed enthusiasm and a collaborative mindset, contributing to the university’s development with greater energy and dedication.
This spring outing not only provided a welcome break from daily routines but also strengthened interpersonal connections and invigorated collective spirit. The Trade Union of the School of Foreign Studies will continue to innovate and enrich its activities, fostering a greater sense of belonging and well-being among faculty members, and uniting efforts to support the School’s high-quality development.
