To select outstanding teachers for the university’s 5th Young-Faculty Teaching Competition, the School of Foreign Studies held its own college-level contest on 15 October 2025 under the theme “Deepening Fundamental Teaching Skills, Building High-Quality Foreign-Language Classrooms.” All faculty members who met the age requirement took part; the event was chaired by Vice-Dean Wang Lili and judged on-site by a panel of experts.

Following the procedures of the competition, each contestant delivered a 10-minute classroom demonstration. Drawing on the distinctive features of foreign-language education, they integrated smart teaching tools and varied pedagogical methods to display solid instructional competence and forward-looking educational philosophies.

After the demonstrations, faculty representative Qu Youyang shared practical teaching techniques and competition-preparation insights drawn from her own classroom experience and reflection.

During the feedback session, Professor Zhou Ying praised both the organization of the competition and the overall performance of the participants, while also offering suggestions for further improvement.

Vice-Dean Wang Lili remarked: “This competition is an important measure for the School to assess young teachers’ instructional capacity and to deepen teaching reform; it is also a high-quality platform for them to showcase themselves and learn from one another. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen the cultivation of young faculty, contributing to the improvement of university-wide teaching quality and to the education of top-tier foreign-language talents.”

The event stimulated young teachers’ enthusiasm, fostered collegial exchange, and laid a solid foundation for the School’s construction of a high-quality foreign language teaching system. Next steps will include continuous refinement of young-faculty training mechanisms, supporting their ongoing growth in pedagogical practice and injecting fresh vitality into the national strategy of “strengthening the country through education” and into the university’s own development.
