The TEM-8 Preparation Lecture Successfully Held at The School of Foreign Studies

To provide targeted guidance for students in the final sprint phase of the TEM-8 examination, the English Department of the School of Foreign Studies held a preparation lecture for second-year undergraduates (Class of 2022) on March 12. The lecture was delivered by professors Zhang Junnan and Zhu Gexun, both esteemed faculty members of the department.

During the lecture, Zhang Junnan introduced the structure and requirements of the TEM-8 examination, with a particular focus on test-taking strategies and review methods for listening comprehension, short-answer reading questions, and error correction tasks. Zhu Gexun explained the characteristics of the translation and writing sections and provided a detailed analysis of answering techniques from the perspectives of scoring standards and grading procedures. At the end of the lecture, Program Director Zhu Gexun reminded students to allocate their revision time wisely, maintain a healthy attitude toward the exam, and pay attention to matters related to their thesis work in the current semester.

The 2026 TEM-8 examination, organized by the National Advisory Committee for Foreign Language Teaching in Higher Education, is held annually in March, with this year's examination scheduled for March 21. As one of the most authoritative and prestigious examinations for English majors in China, TEM-8 enjoys wide recognition, and the certificate offers significant advantages in academic pursuits and employment opportunities. In recent years, the national average pass rate for the examination has remained around 40%, while the one-time pass rate of undergraduate students from The School of Foreign Studies has generally exceeded the national average by more than 40 percentage points. In 2024, the pass rate reached 94.11%, which serves as a strong testament to the quality of the School's teaching and its success in talent cultivation.
