Teaching and research section for non-English major postgraduates undertakes the teaching tasks of over 20 courses for more than 5000 master candidates, doctoral candidates, MBA/MPA, international students,  and undergraduates in each academic year. The section consists 19 members, including 3 professors, 10 associate professors, and 8 lecturers, 11 of whom have overseas study and research experience.

Guided by the university's talent cultivation goals, the department takes 'scholarization' and 'internationalization' as the core of curriculum development, taking into account the development of humanistic literacy, and  comprehensively enhancing students' international communication and exchange capacities. By employing a student-centered blended teaching approach, the section breaks through temporal and spatial constraints, ignites students' interest in learning English, and facilitates the shift from constructing foreign language knowledge to cultivating intercultural communication skills. This transition takes students from the realm of language classrooms to the grand stage of international academic exchange, highlighting the diverse, personalized, information-based, and international characteristics of graduate education.

After a long time good preparation, the teachers completed the construction of the high-quality Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) of English for Academic Purposes, which has been available on the platforms of XuetangX and Zhihuishu, contributing to the sharing of high-quality learning resources at the national and international level. Additionally, the course has been selected as a model course of the Ministry of Education's “Tuojin Plan”. The department excels in both teaching and research, achieving numerous awards including the first prize in provincial-level teaching competition, 10 provincial-level ideological and political education cases, and over 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects. Furthermore, the teachers have published multiple monographs, translations, and textbooks and numerous high-level research papers as well.

All the teachers in the section are willing to apply academic research into teaching and dedicate to establishing Harbin Engineering University as a world-class university and cultivating high-quality innovative talents for HEU.
