The Teaching and Research Department of for Non-English Major Postgraduate Students undertakes the teaching task of over 20 English courses for more than 5,000 students annually, including non-English major master’s and doctoral candidates, MBA/MPA students, and international students, as well as general education courses for undergraduates. The department currently has 14 faculty members—1 professor, 6 associate professors, and 7 lecturers—6 of whom have overseas academic experience.

Guided by the university’s talent cultivation goals, the department emphasizes “academic orientation” and “internationalization” in curriculum development, while fostering students’ humanistic literacy and global communication competence. Leveraging a student-centered blended teaching model that integrates online and offline methods, the department removes temporal and spatial barriers, stimulates interest in language learning, and facilitates the transition from knowledge acquisition to language skill development. This approach supports students in stepping beyond the classroom and engaging in international academic dialogue, reflecting the diversity, personalization, digitalization, and international focus of postgraduate education.

The department has developed a high-quality MOOC titled English for Academic Purposes, now available on XuetangX and Zhihuishu platforms. The course was selected for the Ministry of Education’s international online teaching platform and recognized as a model course under the “Tuojin Plan,” contributing to the national initiative for open access to high-quality educational resources.Excelling in both teaching and research, the department has received numerous honors, including a first prize in a provincial-level teaching competition, the development of 1 provincial-level demonstration course integrating ideological and political education and 10 provincial-level cases and was awarded the honor of China-Indonesia Hybrid Classroom. Faculty members have led or participated in more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level research projects and have published a range of academic monographs, translations, textbooks, and high-impact research papers.
