The Center for Global and Area Studies was established on 11 January 2023. There are 14 full-time teachers, all of whom have overseas study experience. The center is responsible for the teaching of the second foreign language and area-related courses for undergraduate and master's students majoring in English, as well as the public foreign language teaching tasks of Russian, Japanese, German and French for undergraduate, master's and doctoral students across the entire university, and now has 41 undergraduate courses and 6 graduate courses.

In the past two years, through the integration of internal and external resources and our research strength, the team has built the Heilongjiang Provincial Area Studies and Northward Opening Strategy Academic Exchange Base, the Global Ocean Governance and Security Strategy Research Center, the Institute of Area Studies, and the Eurasian Ocean Center. Relying on these interdisciplinary platforms, the center will continue to intensify area studies, aiming to build a "three-in-one" pattern of discipline development, talent cultivation, and think tank construction.

The center prioritizes attracting outstanding young talents from home and abroad, and has initially formed an innovative academic team with multicultural and multilingual capabilities, dedicated to the thematic and comprehensive research on area studies in different countries and regions. The team has published more than 10 collaborative international papers in high-level journals such as Asia Europe Journal, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, 6 consulting reports have been adopted by relevant national and provincial departments, several translation works published, and multiple provincial and ministerial projects approved. Team members won awards for research achievements in foreign languages, provincial teaching competitions, and projects funded by the Heilongjiang Provincial Academy of Social Sciences. They've also received honors such as Outstanding Party Worker and Model of Moral Excellence in Heilongjiang Higher Education.
