Basic information: The center currently has 5 teachers, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors, and 1of them with doctoral degree. Its main research direction is English-Chinese translation, translation techniques, and corpus construction. The main courses undertaken include “Computer Aided Translation”, “English-Chinese Translation Practice”, “Marine English Translation”, “Guidance for Academic Paper Writing”, “English-Chinese Comparison and Translation”, “Modern Western Translation Theory”, etc.

Highlights of the center: The center focuses on the application of modern technology, information technology, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and translation technology. It studies the organic integration of artificial intelligence and translation, explores interdisciplinary talent training models, and is committed to exploring new forms of integration of translation education and industry driven by informatization, localization, and globalization. The center serves the national strategic needs and the school’s talent cultivation goals, highlights the research characteristics of “shipbuilding, marine engineering, and nuclear science and technology”, and focuses on English Chinese translation and corpus construction.

Achievements of the Center: Since its establishment, the center has accumulated certain experience in translation research, talent cultivation, and translation practice. It has made outstanding contributions to the construction of school’s corpus and terminology database. It organizes translation training for MTI students of the school every year, actively carries out language services and think-tank research, and strives to cultivate high-level composite translation talents who master modern technology and advanced research methods.
