On the morning of April 13, The National Preliminary Round of the 2025 National English Competition for College Students (Harbin Engineering University Division) was successfully held in Teaching Building 21B, with a record-breaking 2,258 contestants from various colleges registered for the competition, marking the highest turnout in its history.]

One week prior to the competition, the Youth League Committee of the School of Foreign Studies conducted training for all 130 staff members assigned to 76 venues of the competition, enduring comprehensive preparation for the competition. At precisely 8:00 AM on April 13, all staff arrived at the examination office on time, where they systematically collected materials and prepared the venues before organizing participant registration and seating. The staff first announced the instructions for the venue, and then distributed the test papers. At 9 AM, the competition officially began, with participants demonstrating focused concentration and composure throughout the orderly yet intense atmosphere. After the competition, the staff collected the answer sheets and guided the contestants to leave the venue after confirming no irregularities.
National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) is a national college students' English comprehensive English proficiency competition, sponsored by the National Foreign Language Teaching and Research Cooperative Group of Higher Normal Colleges. The competition consists of four categories:
Category A: Postgraduate students
Category B : English majors
Category: Non-English majors
CategoryD: Vocational College students
The competition mainly evaluates students' basic English knowledge and skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, with particular emphasis on assessing comprehensive English application abilities.

National English Competition for College Students(NECCS) is a Level I competition in the off-campus competition database of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship of our university. In recent years, our school attaches great importance to the innovative practice and training of foreign languages. TheSchool of Foreign Studies has actively participated in it by carefully organizing English competitions such as speech, reading, writing, and translation with the theme of “Understanding Contemporary China". We have strengthened the "one competition, one team"initiative, selecting excellent faculty members for pre-competition training and post-competition guidance, which has built a secondary practical classroom for English learning, effectively stimulating students' interest in English learning and creating a strong English-learning atmosphere across the campus.
